Appointment Aims

At Burnfield Medical Practice we aim to operate a system which makes it as easy as possible for our patients to access a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional.

Our excellent Reception staff are trained to ask specific questions to help to direct our patients to the most appropriate appointment type (telephone or surgery) with the most appropriate clinician (doctor, physiotherapist, practice nurse, or clinical technicians.) If you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment to someone else.  Remember you can book appointments on line, by clicking on the link above.

We aim to achieve the following standards:

  • Patients who request an appointment on the day they phone are seen the same day or speak directly to a suitably trained healthcare professional in the practice
  • There are no more than two working days until the next available routine doctor appointment (it may be longer if a specific doctor is requested).
  • There are usually no more than two working days until the next available routine Practice Nurse or Clinical Technician appointment (it may be longer if a specific nurse or technician is requested).

Types of Consultations

Appointments may be made by telephone or by calling into the surgery. In order to run the appointment book efficiently we try and avoid follow-up appointments on Mondays. Our staff are trained to ask specific questions enabling them to deal with your enquiry effectively.
